Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1971, Kristy Schopper studied at the University of Texas at Austin under the mentoring of Richard Jordan and Peter Saul.
She works in small and large scale, via ink, oil or outdoor acrylic accordingly, with rich colors and strong brush strokes. Whatever the approach, her work is all about Painting; As the cause and the effect. Since 2000, as the founder and director of The Space, a non-profit org. dedicated to the reclamation of underutilized property in the name of art, she has provided local artists with free studio space in Long Island City and constantly works toward giving Art a bigger place.
